e-Statements

Sign up for e-Statements to help save time and money

Did you know that it takes 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, 4,000 kilowatts of energy and 7,000 gallons of water to create 1 ton of paper? At HSBC we send hundreds of thousands of paper statements to our customers every year and reducing these is a big step towards helping save paper and our environment.

You may not be aware that you can now receive e-Statements/ e-Advices online through HSBC Personal Internet banking. Here are some FAQ's to help you make an informed decision of why to switch to e-Statements/ eAdvices.

What is an eStatement and an eAdvice service ?

This service allows you to manage your statements and advices in an electronic format at HSBC Internet Banking anytime, anywhere. Customers can enjoy greater convenience while saving paper and building a greener future for the next generation.

What are the benefits of using the Service?

  • No more paper statement and advice clutter
  • More environmentally friendly
  • Able to view at your convenience, anytime and anywhere
  • e-Statements/ e-Advices can be saved on your computer, and
  • No need to wait for the mail to arrive
  • No paper statement fees. (fees not applicable to statements incorporating loan information)

When will my registration be effective?

If you have elected to receive e-Statements at the time of account opening, this service will be activated once you have registered for internet banking.

If you are currently on paper statements, please do send us your instruction via secure message. Your registration to take effect within 24 hours.

Will I continue to receive paper statements/ advices after using this Service?

No. If an account has been selected for eStatement / eAdvice service, no paper statement / advice slips for the specific account will be sent out.

Where can I find my e-Statements/eAdvices on internet banking?

To access your e-Statements, simply click on “Account Services” on the top menu bar, then select “Statements.” Your e-Statements are in Portable Document Format (“PDF”). You may need to install Adobe Reader in your device to view the e-Statements.

Your eAdvices will be send to you via Secure Message. To view your eAdvices, please click on “Help & Support” on the top menu bar, then select “Secure Messages.”

How long will my e-Statements/eAdvice made available on internet banking?

You can view and download your e-Statements for up to 18 months. To order previous/interim statements, please send us your instruction via Secure Message:

  1. Click on "Secure Messages" in the Quick Links menu
  2. Click on "Send us a message"
  3. Select “Previous/Interim Statement request“ as subject line
  4. Please provide detailed instructions in the message body then click on "Send"

Your eAdvices will be avaialbe via Secure Messages for up to 6 months.

Information about your statement:

-Statement

This provides you with a summary of your total portfolio of accounts held with HSBC in New Zealand. It details all the account transactions made during the statement period in one consolidated summary.

-Your Portfolio at a Glance

This section, located in the top left of your statement, provides a quick summary total, in New Zealand Dollars equivalent, of all your accounts split by loans (sum total of your borrowings from the bank) and deposits (sum total of all your money deposited with the bank). Your net position summarises the balance of all loans and deposits.

-Summary of Your Portfolio

This provides you a breakdowns of your individual accounts which are split by Deposits and Loans held with HSBC in New Zealand.

-NZ $ Equivalent

This is the balance of your individual deposits presented in New Zealand dollars. Balances in foreign currencies are converted at the currency’s prevailing exchange rate at the close of balance on the statement date. This equivalent balance is for indication only.

How can I terminate the Service?

If you wish to terminate e-Statements/edvices services, please send us instruction via Secure Message or contact our dedicated Call Centre. Once the service is terminated, your statements and advices will be sent to you by mail thereafter.

e-Statements/ e-Advices are only available to those customers that have registered for internet banking. By switching to e-Statements/ e-Advices you can enjoy a faster, more convenient and economical way to view and save your monthly statements and notifications.

Paper statement fees apply if you decide to receive your e-Statements by mail. Fees not applicable to statements incorporating loan information, please refer to our Fees and Charges booklet for more information.
