What kind of ID do I need to provide?

2) Proof of address

One form of address verification documentation is required. It must be less than 3 months old AND show a full New Zealand street address. P.O. Box numbers will not be accepted as proof of address.

Acceptable forms of address verification are : Utility Bills, Credit Card/Bank Statements from an active (i.e. not closed) account, IRD Tax Assessment Notice (New Zealand), Government Valuation on property (evidencing ownership), Letter from a New Zealand employer on the employer's letterhead (subject to separate verification process), Tenancy Agreement for a New Zealand address.

ACCEPTABLE CERTIFICATION OF YOUR DOCUMENTATION

An acceptable certifier must certify that they have seen the original, current and valid identification and address verification documentation and that the copies of the documentation are complete and accurate copies of the originals. The signature of the certifier must be placed on the copy of the document, and their contact details provided.

Please print and complete the Proof of Identity Form, which will assist you in meeting HSBC's identification requirements. Please provide the completed form with your identification and address verification documents.

Categories of acceptable certifiers include: Judges of District and High Courts and other Members of the New Zealand Judiciary, a Justice of the Peace, A Notary Public, a serving New Zealand Police Officer, Senior Government Department staff in managerial positions, Solicitors and Barristers of the New Zealand High Court, a Chartered New Zealand Accountant (members of the Institute of Chartered Accounts of New Zealand), a serving New Zealand Customs Officer, an Embassy, Consulate or High Commission of country of issue of documentary evidence of identification, a Director, Officer or Manager of a Bank, including HSBC Branch Staff Members.
